A brief summary of India, by an American: Child and crippled beggars are ubiquitous, homeless and serious illness are everywhere. I managed to contract cholera at one point, but that was somehow less destructive to my health than the medication. Everything is dirty and scammers are omnipresent.
Still, I like it here. The food is good and, once they get money from you, the people are kind and even loving. Still, there are a lot of deep-seated issues that India will need to tackle as they continue to develop.
